The Flight Termination System (FTS) is a fully redundant solution developed to support range safety and command functions during flight test and evaluation operations. It is designed to transmit termination commands to airborne receivers when required, ensuring controlled response and mission safety across critical test scenarios.
The system architecture incorporates dual control panels, redundant RF channels, and redundant power supply units to maintain continuous operation. It includes control and signal generation modules, high-power amplifiers, and an antenna switching unit capable of supporting up to eight antennas. Operators can dynamically switch between redundant channels, ensuring uninterrupted functionality and operational assurance during active missions.
Supporting 20 IRIG tones, the system provides programmable RF center frequencies and tone configurations, along with adjustable RF output power levels up to 50 dBm at 100 W. Integrated fault detection and output verification functions enable continuous monitoring of system status, enhancing reliability during range operations.
An RS-232 interface allows real-time control and monitoring, supporting efficient system management throughout mission execution. Designed in accordance with RCC 319-14 and MIL-STD-461F standards, the system provides a robust and maintainable solution for flight testing, launch operations, and guided system development within defense and aerospace programs.
