Flight Termination Receiver

The Flight Termination Receiver (FTR) is a compact airborne unit developed to receive and decode tone-based command signals within flight termination systems. Utilizing a highly sensitive superheterodyne RF receiver with a programmable center frequency, it enables reliable detection of IRIG-standard command tones for activation of termination functions during flight test operations.

The system supports both 3-tone and 4-tone decoding across a set of 20 IRIG tones, providing flexibility for different operational configurations. This allows adaptation to varying safety protocols and mission requirements within controlled test environments.

Designed for safety-critical use, the receiver incorporates comprehensive fail-safe functionality, including programmable loss-of-tone duration, low-voltage detection, and cross-strapping options. Signal strength telemetry output provides real-time RF monitoring, supporting continuous assessment of link integrity during operation.

The FTR is engineered for rugged airborne conditions and is compliant with RCC 319-14, RCC 313-01, and MIL-STD-810G environmental standards. It provides a dependable solution for tone-based command decoding across flight safety systems supporting missiles, launch vehicles, and wider defense platform applications.
