ISTEC Services Limited has secured a four-year contract to supply weapon mount spares across all three military services via the Babcock Service Provision and Transformation Contract.

The agreement serves as an extension of ISTEC’s long-standing commitment to the UK MoD, a relationship that spans over 30 years. The company’s mounts were first utilised by Special Operations vehicles in the 1990s and have since become a staple on platforms used during major operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, including the WMIK, Mastiff, Husky, and Jackal. Beyond land vehicles, ISTEC’s pedestal and crew-served gun mounts are integrated into the majority of Naval platforms, while their GPMG mounts are utilised on the Puma 2 helicopter.

As the preferred supplier for the majority of UK MoD platforms, ISTEC currently supports thousands of mounts in active service. This new contract follows the March 2025 announcement that Babcock was awarded a five-year extension to its existing SPTC, reinforcing its role as a strategic partner to the British Army. Through this collaboration, the focus remains on delivering cost savings, digital transformation, and improved operational readiness.

The partnership aims to maximise the availability of critical assets through enhanced spares management and increased regeneration. For the MoD and front-line personnel, this translates to reduced costs and increased sustainability for battle-winning equipment. ISTEC, a British company with 36 years of experience in the design and manufacture of complex weapon integration and smoke discharger systems, continues to handle the necessary maintenance requirements previously managed for DSG.

Mick Coulson, Managing Director at ISTEC said, “As a British company with many veteran employees, we are fully committed to providing high-quality products for the best value to the UK MOD. We have a long history of delivering battle-proven, robust weapon integration solutions that front-line troops are extremely familiar with and trust. As part of that service, we also pride ourselves on providing the necessary whole-life support to maintain operational effectiveness, and we are very pleased to be working through the Babcock SPTC to deliver this aim.”
