Metal 3D printing solutions for creating fully functional replacement parts in the field at short notice Spain
Metal 3D printing solutions for creating fully functional replacement parts in the field at short notice
Meltio is the developer of disruptive metal 3D printing solutions that allow fully functional replacement parts to be created in the field at short notice.
Based on a directed energy deposition technology known as wire LMD (laser metal deposition), our additive manufacturing systems allow defense forces to ensure continued operational readiness by addressing the challenges posed by volatile supply chains and remote deployments.
Our cutting-edge technology has been validated by a number of armed forces around the world, including the U.S. Navy, the Spanish Army, and the French Navy. Our M600 metal 3D printer was also selected as the Enterprise 3D Printer of the Year (Metals) at the 2024 3D Printing Industry Awards.
Metal 3D printing for military & defense operations
Our unique directed energy deposition (DED) technology uses standard welding wire as the raw material, providing a number of advantages over traditional powder-based methods. These include:
Multi-Material Capabilities – A wide range of wire types is available, from stainless steel to titanium, allowing parts to be created to serve specific needs. Dual-wire printing can be employed for hard-facing or anti-corrosion applications.
Reduced Storage Space – Spools of wire are easier to handle than bulky raw materials such as billets or blocks, and reduce storage space while streamlining logistics requirements.
Enhanced Safety – The use of wire in DED processes reduces dust-related hazards, while inert compressed gases such as argon reduce the risk of fires.
Precision Manufacturing – Highly precise layer-by-layer metal deposition allows the creation of intricate parts and complex geometries, and multiple materials can be integrated into a single part for optimal mechanical properties.
Hybrid Manufacturing – our solutions can be integrated with existing CNC and machining equipment, providing both additive and subtractive manufacturing capabilities in a single workflow.
Thanks to these cutting-edge capabilities, Meltio’s versatile metal 3D printing systems offer an unparalleled set of benefits for military operations, allowing them to mitigate the threat of supply chain obsolescence and optimize the production, repair and customization of critical parts.
Versatile On-site Capabilities – our systems can be deployed on forward operating bases, naval vessels and a variety of other locations, providing self-sufficiency while enabling on-demand parts manufacturing and repair
Speed & Efficiency – users can print, mill and finish replacement parts on a single on-site machine anywhere in the world, significantly expediting manufacturing processes compared to traditional methods and minimizing downtime of critical systems
Avoid Supply Chain Issues – our systems are particularly useful for repairing or replacing obsolete and hard-to-source parts, allowing defense forces to reduce the reliance on traditional supply chains and increase operational readiness
R & D and Prototyping – Meltio solutions allow for rapid iterations in prototype and proof-of-concept designs, minimizing red tape and reliance on external providers and reducing development cycle times

Advanced metal 3D printer with blue laser deposition head
The Meltio M600 enables the creation of fully production-ready metal parts from a variety of materials. With a built-in 3-axis probing system and a large print envelope of 300 x 400 x 600 mm, it can be used to print large single parts or batches of small components simultaneously.
The system’s 450 nm blue laser ensures increased energy absorption, resulting in faster deposition and overall reduced energy consumption and increased cost-effectiveness.
The M600 is fully factory-calibrated and requires no recalibration between material changes.
The Meltio M600 provides options for manufacturing with up to four different materials in the same print, and is compatible with steel, carbon steel, nickel, titanium, aluminum and copper-based alloys.
Meltio Engine Integration Kit for Vertical Machining Centers
Hybrid manufacturing solution for retrofitting vertical machining centers
Our Engine Integration Kit allows you to turn almost any CNC vertical machining center into a fully functional hybrid manufacturing system that combines metal 3D printing and machining of complex geometries into a single workflow.
Ideal for component repair, part augmentation, and feature addition, this versatile capability increases cost-effectiveness and efficiency, and is available with IR lasers, or with blue lasers for greater absorption and a wider range of compatible materials.
Advanced metal 3D printing capabilities for any robot arm
This Engine Integration Kit allows you to turn any robot arm into a metal 3D printing system, providing compatibility with any manufacturer and interface on the market. This enables the creation of complex parts with intricate geometries, with the working envelope limited only by the size of the motion system.
The Engine Integration Kit for robot arms is ideal for repair, feature addition and 3D printing of obsolete or hard-to-source parts, providing capabilities that were previously impossible or too costly with traditional systems. The kit is available with IR lasers, or with blue lasers for greater absorption and a wider range of compatible materials.
Based on our Integration Kit for Industrial Robots, the Meltio Robot Cell is a cost-effective turnkey solution for efficient manufacturing of metal 3D printed parts. Featuring plug-and-play installation, it reduces integration complexities and allows users to get up and running as quickly as possible.
The system securely anchors the six-axis robot arm and two-axis positioner on a self-supporting platform, and all cell controls are unified on a single intuitive control panel. Meltio offers a one-week on-site training course that provides end users with everything they need for successful manufacturing.
