AN/ARN-153(V) Digital TACAN
Tactical military airborne navigation system
The AN/ARN-153(V) is an advanced digital TACAN (Tactical Airborne Navigation) solution that provides range, bearing, frequency, velocity and time to station for ground-based or airborne beacons. The lightweight and compact system has been designed to support both new aircraft designs and retrofits.
The system provides four modes of operation: receive, transmit-receive mode, air-to-air receive and air-to-air transmit. It can also be combined with an optional rotating antenna and control unit to provide bearing to an air-to-air TACAN that is transmitting an unmodulated squitter or to DME-only ground stations. It delivers a minimum 500W of transmit power in any environment, making it ideal for supporting the requirements of high-performance aircraft.
The AN/ARN-153(V) provides a number of analog and digital interfaces, including dual MIL-STD-1553B buses and ARINC 429, 568 or 582 buses.
