AN/ARN-153(V) Digital TACAN
Tactical military airborne navigation system
The AN/ARN-153(V) is an advanced digital TACAN (Tactical Airborne Navigation) solution that provides range, bearing, frequency, velocity and time to station for ground-based or airborne beacons. The lightweight and compact system has been designed to support both new aircraft designs and retrofits.
The system provides four modes of operation: receive, transmit-receive mode, air-to-air receive and air-to-air transmit. It can also be combined with an optional rotating antenna and control unit to provide bearing to an air-to-air TACAN that is transmitting an unmodulated squitter or to DME-only ground stations. It delivers a minimum 500W of transmit power in any environment, making it ideal for supporting the requirements of high-performance aircraft.
The AN/ARN-153(V) provides a number of analog and digital interfaces, including dual MIL-STD-1553B buses and ARINC 429, 568 or 582 buses.
The AN/ARN-147(V) is a compact and lightweight VOR/ILS/GS/MB (VHF Omni Ranging/Instrument Landing System/Glideslope/Marker Beacon) receiver system that has been selected for a variety of military fixed-wing and rotary aircraft around the world, including C-130 Hercules, UH-1N Huey, and CH-47 Chinook.
The proven solid-state militarized VHF navigation receiver is MIL-E-5400 class II qualified and features optional internal MIL-STD-1553B capability, and is designed to provide superior performance in the most challenging of military aircraft environments. It features selectable helicopter rotor modulation suppression and also offers FM broadcast immunity to meet ICAO Annex 10 requirements.
The AN/ARN-147(V) is available in analog or analog/digital receiver versions, and the analog version can be easily upgraded to MIL-STD-1553B via a field-installable electronic card.
Collins Aerospace has developed a wide range of IFF solutions that allow military and civilian ATC interrogation systems to identify aircraft, vehicles or forces as friendly, enemy or neutral, and to determine their bearing and range.
With over 60 years of experience in IFF, we have installed and maintained IFF transponders and interrogators on more than 120 platforms around the world. Our solutions include AIMS-certified and Mode 5 products as well as cutting-edge cryptographic technology.
