Hydrus is a compact AUV designed for a variety of applications including underwater mapping, naval facilities inspection and subsea environmental monitoring. Incorporating a 4K 60 FPS camera with powerful lighting, as well as tightly coupled USBL, DVL and INS, the underwater robotic vehicle is capable of carrying out missions in challenging subsea conditions.
Thanks to onboard AI-powered image processing that dynamically balances camera settings and lighting, the AUV delivers georeferenced footage with the highest quality and at 60 frames per second. Hydrus can also create 3D RGB point clouds by combining imagery with sonar and navigation data.
The vehicle's innovative design features a low SwaP-C footprint with a fully encapsulated polymer construction, as well as hubless thrusters that prevent impellers from getting jammed with ropes or seaweed. The highly reliable and low-maintenance system can be deployed by a single operator.
Hydrus also features an open architecture, and users can integrate custom software for applications such as machine vision and AI, with full access to the camera, sensors, navigation, modems and control.
