Aerospace systems business Griffon Aerospace has chosen Volz Servos for rugged technologies with the highest reliability.

Volz Servos’ actuators have been chosen for Griffon Aerospace’s game-changing hybrid-electric surveillance and reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) , the Valiant, providing its precise actuators and servos for the UAV’s steering surfaces and rotor tilt.

Designed to conduct a variety of missions in demanding and contested environments, Griffon’s Valiant performs exceptionally over both land and sea.

Valiant, as an autonomous vertical take-off and landing UAV, can stay exactly on course due to Volz actuators at the control surfaces. A customized, low-profile Volz servo also enables the tilt mechanism to change reliably from vertical operation to cruise flight — and back — for flawless take-offs and landings.

In addition to reliable tilt mechanisms and an ability to stay a course perfectly, the UAV now offers strategic capabilities in an organic, unit-level asset with a functional system to easily swap payloads and a high endurance. Clients can rely on the precise autonomous steering, thanks to Volz’s high-quality actuator technology.

Phillipp Volz, CEO of Volz Servos, commented, “It’s absolutely essential that these UAS react instantly to control commands and with absolute precision.

“This is even more important in challenging search and rescue conditions such as wind gusts, extreme temperatures or unclear areas, when downtime or malfunctions can have disastrous consequences.”
