UMAR (Unmanned Multirotor Aerial Relay) is a modular and portable tethered drone unit that can be seamlessly integrated into a variety of host platforms, including naval vessels, trucks and trailers. It offers automatic takeoff, landing, flight and vehicle following, maintaining reliable operation and secure communications with no need for additional stabilization even under heavy pitch, roll and heave.
The versatile UAV deployed by UMAR can be equipped with a range of payloads, including radio equipment and ISR sensors. Operating at altitudes of up to 500 feet, it is ideal for EO/IR camera deployment and radio range extension. It has been selected by the US Navy for critical maritime over-the-horizon communications, and incorporates a secure datalink with robust protection against jamming and hacking attacks.
UMAR has been ruggedized to withstand the harshest of operating conditions, including rain, snow, salt spray, and extremes of temperature and humidity, and functions reliably in wind speeds of up to 35 knots.
