The Black Widow™ small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS) by Red Cat Holdings, a developer of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) drone technologies, has been selected for military use through a competitive tender by an undisclosed Asia-Pacific ally.
This agreement, finalized in December 2025, marks the second ally in the Asia-Pacific region to recently order the Black Widow platform. Red Cat is scheduled to deliver an undisclosed number of systems throughout the 2026 calendar year. Each individual system provided under the contract includes two Black Widow aircraft, a Ground Control Station (GCS), and other mission-critical components.
The Black Widow is Red Cat’s flagship sUAS, designed specifically for tactical edge ISR missions. Red Cat engineered the platform with a compact, rugged design and a secure communications architecture. The system is compliant with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and serves as a modular, scalable component within the company’s broader Family of Systems.
Jeff Thompson, CEO of Red Cat, commented, “This agreement highlights the trust our international partners place in Red Cat to deliver secure, U.S.-built drone systems purpose-built for today’s battlefield. We’re honored to support our Asia-Pacific allies with a portable ISR platform engineered for performance in contested environments. As geopolitical dynamics shift, we see accelerating demand for autonomous, interoperable technologies that enhance allied operational readiness. This order underscores Red Cat’s growing role as a strategic partner in the region.”
While specific quantities and financial terms remain undisclosed, further details regarding both recent Asia-Pacific orders are expected to be released in the near future.
