DTC, a Codan Company, has announced a significant expansion of its UK manufacturing capacity to enhance support for the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD), NATO, and allied forces.
This sovereign investment by one of the key producers of soldier systems and unmanned radio communication solutions in the UK reinforces the company’s goal to deliver innovation, reliability, and operational advantage directly to the front line.
Steve Beeching, SVP for DTC, stated, “This strategic expansion ensures that cutting-edge innovation, support services and technology sharing remain accessible to UK and allied users at the speed of relevance. By maintaining proximity to our defence partners and user community, DTC continues to deliver solutions that respond rapidly to evolving operational requirements.”
Beeching stated, “At the heart of DTC’s investment is a long-term commitment to developing local talent, technical expertise and advanced manufacturing skills. This initiative not only secures the UK’s sovereign capability in critical communication technologies but also strengthens export opportunities for British intellectual property and innovation. We are aligned with the principles of the UK Government’s Defence Industrial Strategy.”
Paul Sangster, President of DTC, stated, “As part of the global Codan Group, DTC is uniquely positioned to integrate international best practices while maintaining a strong sovereign industrial base within the UK. Our operations exemplify how private-sector investment can underpin national resilience and contribute to long-term economic and security objectives.”
Alongside the manufacturing expansion, DTC introduced its latest technological advancement, the 6161 Radio Solution, which is designed for human-machine teaming.
Andrew Dobson, Business Unit Director – Military for DTC, explained, “DTC’s latest technological advancement, the 6161 Radio Solution, represents a significant milestone in next-generation soldier and unmanned system connectivity. The 6161 delivers seamless interoperability between advanced soldier systems and uncrewed platforms that are utilising the BluSDRTM suite of radios, enabling true human-machine teaming and situational superiority in complex operational environments.”
This innovation is supported by DTC’s multi-MANET waveform approach. Dobson continued, “Underpinning this innovation is DTC’s multi-MANET waveform approach, built upon its globally recognised MeshUltra™ suite and integration with multiple third-party waveforms. This capability provides secure, resilient and adaptive communications across the full spectrum of tactical operations.”
Through continuous investment, DTC aims to drive forward the technologies and partnerships needed to ensure UK and allied warfighters maintain operational dominance. The company states that by embedding itself within the defence innovation ecosystem, it is delivering transformational change in communications, autonomy, and data integration, ensuring that users remain connected, informed and one step ahead of adversaries.
