Revector is a leading developer of cellphone and Wi-Fi detection and surveillance solutions for military, security and public safety applications.
This Q&A explores how Revector’s solutions enhance defense and security operations by enabling covert surveillance, threat detection, and system integration, with insights into future innovations like an advanced HQ dashboard for multi-source intelligence.
1. What are the key advantages of using mobile signal intelligence (SIGINT) in defense applications, and how does Revector ensure accuracy and reliability?
Mobile Signal intelligence can allow organisations to gather crucial intelligence on high-value individual targets or groups. The collection techniques allow us to build a picture of the target without the need for physical engagement through kinetic or invasive intelligence methods, therefore reducing operational risk. Meaning we are able to operate from a safe distance in a covert state.
The equipment is also capable of assisting with protecting important sites, monitoring for unauthorised access or suspicious devices that may have been placed.
Persistent testing, development and innovation are key functions Revector performs to ensure we stay ahead of the game. We are continuously the first to provide intuitive and innovative features whilst still providing an easy to use platform.
2. Can you explain how your IMSI number tracking solutions help detect and track unauthorized or rogue mobile devices in high-security environments?
Revectors IMSI Catchers transmit a false base station, making nearby phones think they are connecting to a real base station belonging to their network. Once registered, we are able to immediately reject the device so they reconnect to their own network, removing any chance of denial of service. However, for devices of interest we may hold on to perform more advanced functions. With the use of our software we are able to take the signal strength and triangulate the device, narrowing down it’s location to a 20m radius. From there we can begin a “Silent Call”- a technique that pings the device every second to obtain the signal strength without the device owner knowing, we can then use this to walk in on the exact location.
We can also enable “wildcards”, a process that alerts on detection of SIM Cards from specific predefined countries, particularly useful in pinchpoint locations such as airports to detect unusual entries.
3. What role does Revector’s technology play in areas of defense and security such as counter-terrorism, intelligence gathering, and electronic warfare?
Revectors devices assist in counter-terrorism as follows:
- Detection of Covert Communications: Detect unauthorised mobile devices operating in restricted zones, often used by terrorist operatives to communicate covertly or trigger remote IEDs.
- Target Location and Identification: The technology enables precise geolocation of mobile devices, allowing security forces to identify and track suspects in real time, even in high-density urban environments.
Intelligence gathering:
- Behavioral Pattern Analysis: By capturing metadata on device movement, frequency, and location history, analysts can build behavioural profiles and networks of interest.
- Support for Human Intelligence (HUMINT): SIGINT complements traditional intelligence by verifying the presence and movements of persons of interest, supporting ground assets in complex missions.
4. With regard to securing borders and identifying threats, how does your technology support military and law enforcement units?
Revectors IMSI Catchers, WiFi and Bluetooth Catchers can all detect threats before close proximity, we can identify the threat before it has increased its threat level. Supporting military and law enforcement we can be alerted with plenty of time to begin counteractive operations. Locating the device is of paramount importance, and our software narrows down this time, taking time away from traditional Directional Finding activities. Detection of hotspots of phones in the same area, make identifying potential border crossings easier when the phones are located in a place they should not be.
5. How effectively can Revector’s solutions be integrated into pre-existing military surveillance and reconnaissance systems?
Integration with existing systems is where Revector specialise, we know the importance of utilising all tools in your toolbox. We have now integrated with over 20 UAV manufacturers, a process that takes less than 1 day. With additional software integrations we can now showcase any camera, whether it be UAV mounted or a CCTV into the software for an additional view at potential targets. We also have AI tools from third parties integrated that are able to detect specific objects. By placing commonly caught numbers and faces into a database we can identify patterns of life to fit the correct two together.
6. Can you give us any insight into future developments or innovations that Revector is working on to further support defense and security applications?
Revector constantly work on new innovations, we are currently working on our HQ Dashboard that takes our existing dashboard and gives it an overhaul to include data sources from multiple sources. Increasing the chances of identifying and creating a profile of suspected targets. The dashboard will allow HQ to monitor, control and review a number of devices within your intelligence network. We can take these data sources from our own range of products or potentially others.
Thank you for your time, it’s always great to talk to Revector and we look forward to providing more coverage on your cellphone and Wi-Fi detection and surveillance solutions.
