Exail has been awarded a contract by a prominent defense research organization to supply its DriX H-9 uncrewed surface vehicle for the development of maritime counter-aerial capabilities.
This agreement marks the second defense-sector order for the long-range H-9 model within recent months, signaling increased momentum for uncrewed surface vehicle (USV) solutions in military applications. The customer intends to equip the vessel for Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (CUAS) missions, incorporating sensor technologies designed to detect, track, and mitigate various aerial threats. The project involves adapting proven CUAS technology, originally engineered for land-based platforms, for deployment in the maritime domain.
The DriX H-9 is designed with a focus on long-range autonomy and high payload capacity. Its modular architecture allows for the rapid integration of mission-specific systems, supporting a variety of naval and multi-domain operations ranging from hydrography to maritime security and domain awareness. This versatility allows the platform to serve both commercial and defense sectors effectively.
Marine Slingue, President of Exail Defense Systems Inc, highlights how the platform is intended to support emerging naval concepts through modularity and operational resilience, “This new contract illustrates how Exail’s uncrewed surface vessels are becoming key enablers for future defense concepts. By adapting the DriX Series to new missions such as CUAS, we’re demonstrating how uncrewed systems can enhance operational agility and resilience across all domains.”
