DeltaQuad, a developer of high performance VTOL fixed-wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for government, defense and tactical applications, is a founding member of the newly formed Deep Tech Defence Alliance (DTDA). Read more >>
The DTDA is a European initiative created to strengthen defense innovation and reinforce the Dutch Defence Technological and Industrial Base (NLDTIB).
This alliance unites leading deep-tech companies across the defense sector to accelerate development, enhance European supply chain resilience and support strategic autonomy. It aims to enable shorter development cycles, faster adoption, and direct operational deployment.
The DTDA also focuses on key technological domains including autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, advanced sensors, and other critical capabilities directly supporting operational needs.
As a charter partner from the alliance’s inception, DeltaQuad brings expertise long-range autonomous Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) technology, advancing the transition of defense technologies from R&D to operational deployment.
Alliance Membership & Capability Focus
DTDA brings together innovative organizations in Dutch and European defense technology, including start-ups and scale-ups investing heavily in R&D, as well as component manufacturers and production-innovation companies delivering single- and dual-use products.
The alliance already includes several dozen member organizations active in fields such as AI, quantum technologies, advanced materials, autonomous systems, sensors, weapons, ammunition, and space, all contributing to operational readiness.
Mission & Policy Alignment
The alliance’s mission focuses on building a resilient European defense and industrial ecosystem, leveraging near-shoring, adaptive production lines, and secure supply chains.
DTDA aims to strengthen cooperation, innovation, security of supply, and strategic autonomy for deep-tech companies across the Netherlands, Northwest Europe, and other NATO and EU nations. This approach aligns with initiatives such as BRAVE1 in Ukraine, where battlefield-proven innovation is influencing European security outcomes.
The establishment of DTDA also supports several national and European defense initiatives, including the Defence Strategy for Industry and Innovation (D-SII 2025–2029), the STRAIIK-D Action Agenda, and the Action Plan for Production Security in Unmanned Systems (APOS). At the European level, DTDA links directly to the White Paper on European Defence Readiness 2030.
This alignment is further reflected in the August 2025 Defence Council (RBZ) meeting held in Copenhagen, where the Netherlands positioned itself as Co-Lead Nation for the Prioritized Capability Area “Drones and Counter-Drone Systems.”
DTDA is shaping the defense innovation landscape by fostering coordination and leadership across the North-West European ecosystem, helping policymakers develop tools and frameworks that reflect evolving operational requirements.
Ongoing Collaboration & Strategic Outlook
DTDA, in cooperation with the NIDV and in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, seeks to evolve from supplier to strategic partner. The alliance intends to support public-private partnerships that enhance innovation, operational capability, strategic autonomy, and resilience.
It remains open to private organizations interested in contributing to a strong, resilient, and operationally focused European defense base.
