ANELLO Photonics has been awarded a Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract by the U.S. Navy for its optical gyroscope and sensor fusion technologies designed for GPS-denied navigation.
The selection follows ANELLO’s prior work as an “Alternative Navigation System for Hypersonic Vehicles in Global Positioning System (GPS)-Degraded and GPS-Denied Environments” and the successful completion of an earlier Phase I SBIR project with the U.S. Navy.
The current Phase I SBIR award enables ANELLO to demonstrate its advanced integrated photonics and AI-driven sensor fusion products to the U.S. Navy, supporting high-accuracy navigation in challenging or contested GPS environments.
Dr. Mario Paniccia, CEO of ANELLO Photonics, stated, “We are excited to work with the U.S. Navy and provide them access to our innovative and cutting-edge technology. Within this program, the U.S. Navy can directly evaluate and experience first-hand the benefits of the ANELLO products for navigation in GPS-denied or contested environments.”
ANELLO is the creator of the SiPhOG™ Silicon Photonics Optical Gyroscope, based on integrated photonic system-on-chip technology. Its technology portfolio includes more than 24 issued patents, over 34 pending patents, and an AI-based sensor fusion engine that enhances navigation performance.
