The Black Widow™ is a cutting-edge multirotor sUAS designed to support a variety of tactical defense and government requirements, particularly for short-range reconnaissance missions such as route recon, target identification, and scouting for safe landing zones. Made in the USA, the Blue UAS-certified drone system has been selected for the U.S. Army Short Range Reconnaissance Program, and is part of Red Cat's Arachnid Family of Systems, which has been purpose-built for the U.S. Army’s roadmap for UAS integration.
The versatile and rucksack-portable Black Widow™ features a fully modular architecture, allowing it to be quickly reconfigured in the field for different mission requirements, and is also the only UAS in its class that allows field repairability for motor arms and propellers as well as the main sensor. It is provided as standard with the Teledyne FLIR Hadron 640R+, enabling it to gather mission-critical EO/IR imagery at any time of day or night. An integrated Picatinny rail allows other third-party payloads to be connected with ease.
Thanks to its powerful onboard processor, the platform offers powerful integrated AI capabilities, and is capable of advanced autonomy and obstacle avoidance, as well as target identification, classification and tracking.
The Black Widow™ includes a hex-band radio from Doodle Labs, with frequency-hopping in the M1-M6 bands for enhanced resilience in electronic warfare environments. It also includes an M-Code capable GPS receiver with advanced anti-jamming capabilities. The platform also allows all audible noises, visual indicators, and ground proximity sensors to be disabled during a mission, allowing it to operate with maximum covertness.
