February 17 marked an important moment for Canada’s defence and security future.
With the release of Canada’s Defence Industrial Strategy the federal government made a clear statement that a sovereign capability must be established, must be operational and must be scalable. Uncrewed and autonomous systems are now formally recognized as a national priority and establishes a build-partner-buy framework to support long-term domestic capability.
According to Volatus Aerospace, as Canada’s largest drone company, this strategy aligns directly with what the company has been building.
Today, Volatus operate at commercial scale in regulated aerospace environments across Canada and internationally. They support Government of Canada and NATO-aligned stakeholders and deploy remote and autonomous systems in mission-critical environments, including Canada’s North.
Volatus has said it remains firmly committed to Canadian manufacturing. The company has established plans and started to build additional production capacity in Canada with its new innovation centre, providing sovereign drone manufacturing in Mirabel, Québec.
