Volatus Aerospace Inc. has been awarded a defence contract valued at up to CAD $9 million to supply an allied defence organization with a next-generation interim training system for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations.
The contract is structured over a two-year period, beginning with an initial tranche of approximately $4.5 million scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2026. A second tranche may be exercised by the customer through the end of 2027. While the specific system configurations and the identity of the end-user remain confidential, the agreement addresses an urgent requirement from a NATO partner to accelerate foundational unmanned aviation skills among its personnel.
As a specialist in uncrewed, aerial, and defence technology solutions, Volatus Aerospace is focused on expanding Canada’s aerospace and defence industrial capacity. This latest award highlights the company’s role as a provider of secure, commercially derived unmanned systems and operational support for international defence organizations.
Glen Lynch, CEO of Volatus Aerospace Inc, said, “Uncrewed ISR capability is now fundamental to modern defence readiness. This contract demonstrates the trust international partners are placing in Canadian innovation and showcases Volatus’ ability to deliver scalable, defence-grade solutions that strengthen allied preparedness. It aligns squarely with our strategy to position Volatus as a key contributor to Canada’s defence industrial base and the broader NATO ecosystem.”
Under the terms of the agreement, the company will supply a fleet of unmanned aircraft training systems specifically purpose-built for introductory ISR skill development. The package includes integrated control interfaces for flight and sensor-operation training, comprehensive technical documentation, and onsite instructor familiarization to ensure the systems are integrated seamlessly into the customer’s existing environment. Volatus will also provide warranty and lifecycle support that meets standard defence procurement and sustainment protocols.
The initiative supports broader goals of enhancing interoperability with NATO partners and building domestic expertise in advanced uncrewed technologies. By delivering mission-focused innovation, Volatus aims to improve the resilience and operational agility of allied forces.
Lynch added, “As Canada deepens its commitment to NATO and increases its emphasis on uncrewed and remotely operated systems, Volatus is proud to deliver Canadian capability that contributes directly to allied readiness.”
