Mehler Protection has expanded its ballistic protection portfolio with the introduction of Omega Core, a next-generation combat helmet designed to meet the demands of modern military and tactical mission profiles.

The system utilizes an optimized UHMWPE composite core paired with a shell-integrated energy-dissipation system. This construction is engineered to deliver a high weight-to-performance ratio, specifically aimed at reducing neck strain and operational fatigue for users during long-duration deployments. The shell design focuses on minimizing backface deformation and optimizing fragment deflection.

Drawing on its modular platform architecture, the helmet is configurable for a wide range of scenarios, from high-mobility tasks to environments with variable threat levels. The exterior features an open rail architecture with modular interfaces, allowing for the integration of night-vision goggle mounts, visors, communication systems, and hearing protection.

Internal stability is managed through multi-chamber pads and adaptive anchoring points designed to minimize micro-movements under dynamic loads. To assist with heat management during high-intensity activity, the interior includes a continuously ventilated suspension net to reduce perspiration and heat build-up.

Dr. Mario Amschlinger, CEO of Mehler Systems, said, “With Omega Core, we are setting the benchmark for ultra-light, fully integrable combat helmets. The system is Made in Germany and underpinned by a resilient European supply chain. Operators benefit from around 20 percent weight savings compared to the current Bundeswehr combat helmet, without compromising protection, ergonomics, or system integration.”

Mehler Protection, a division of Mehler Systems, plans to showcase the new helmet system at Enforce Tac 2026. The Omega Core is said to rank among the lightest helmet systems in its class, offering significant advantages in mobility for personnel in the field.
