L3Harris’ CORVUS-RAVEN counter-sUAS technology was utilized by British soldiers during VANAHEIM, a field-based exercise run by the British Army’s RAPSTONE Task Force and the U.S. Army at Hohenfels Training Area, Germany.

At VANAHEIM, L3Harris showcased CORVUS-RAVEN in two configurations: a unit mounted onto a Coyote vehicle and a dismounted variant wearable by soldiers.

VANAHEIM specifically required each counter-UAS solution be designed for use by generalist soldiers, small enough to be portable and focused on Class 1 UAS systems. Lightweight and highly portable, CORVUS-RAVEN provided enhanced situational awareness through rapid detection and indication of drone threats with integrated jamming functionality.

Throughout the demonstration, British soldiers operated CORVUS-RAVEN in different realistic mission scenarios, providing direct feedback to L3Harris based on their experience. This helped gather valuable real-time feedback to influence future developments.

CORVUS-RAVEN is equipped with passive detection capabilities of up to four kilometers and with visual display and battle management tools including the Android Tactical Assault Kit (ATAK). The system supplies operators with advanced signal detect-and-defeat jamming capabilities.

L3Harris’ Individual CORVUS Node (ICN) is central to CORVUS-RAVEN, a compact electronic warfare system that allows forces to quickly transition between multirole, multiplatform, and multifunction capabilities.

As a software-defined system, the capability is designed to detect, locate, classify, and defeat evolving UAS threats across modern and future battlespaces.

Ian Menzies, General Manager of L3Harris’ Intelligence and Cyber International division, stated, “VANAHEIM provided an invaluable opportunity to get L3Harris CORVUS-RAVEN capability into the hands of users. By taking part in the trial, we’ve been able to show British soldiers how our equipment can benefit their missions in a live field environment. This close collaboration with the customer will inform further development of the capability, ensuring our technology is fully aligned to their needs and ready for the future.”

VANAHEIM aims to help identify new CUAS solutions in support of the British Army modernizing and enhancing its capabilities, technology, and tactics against the growing development of sUAS threats.
