The Croatian Armed Forces have launched the latest phase of their command-and-control modernization by expanding Bittium’s tactical communications network to cover the ground-based communications of the Croatian Air Force.
This deployment expands upon the previous integration of the Bittium Tactical Wireless IP Network (TAC WIN) and Bittium Tough SDR Vehicular radios within the nation’s Navy and Land Forces. Delivered in cooperation with Croatian IT partner IntellByte INFO, the phased implementation integrates a seamless IP-based network across military branches to support secure, resilient, and interoperable multi-domain joint operations without interrupting operational readiness.
“Extending the tactical network to Air Force use is a strong indication of trust in our solution’s performance, scalability, and interoperability,” said Tommi Kangas, Senior Vice President of Bittium’s Defence & Security business segment. “It also demonstrates how a unified IP‑based network can effectively support modern joint operations across multiple domains.”
The expansion is executed under a four-year framework agreement between IntellByte INFO and the Croatian Ministry of Defence for supplying and integrating tactical communications systems across different military branches. The current purchase order received by Bittium for this phase is valued at approximately EUR 1.9 million. Under the agreement, Bittium will provide TAC WIN system products, Tough SDR Vehicular radios, accessories, waveform software for various communication use cases, device management software for deployment and radio management, and comprehensive lifecycle services.
