Discover cutting-edge solutions from 4 leading global suppliers
Vegvisir unveiled its new Vegvisir Virtual Command Station at IDEX 2025, an innovative fleet management and command & control solution developed in collaboration with the Estonian Defence Forces.
Vegvisir Virtual Command Station eliminates traditional command post screens and replaces them with a headset-based virtual display. The solution leverages the lightweight Vegvisir Visor, an augmented reality (AR) headset which enables commanders to access and interact with real-time battlefield data from multiple sources.
This includes data from battlefield management systems (BMS) or live-feeds from unmanned aerial/ground vehicles (UAVs/UGVs), all within a single immersive view. Maps, sensor feeds, and mission-critical updates can be observed in a shared virtual workspace, allowing commanders to work more efficiently and coordinate with their teams.
The system also includes the Vegvisir Mission Grip, an ergonomic control device with gesture support and haptic feedback. Its compact design makes the Vegvisir Virtual Command Station ideal for use in vehicles like APCs, IFVs, and temporary or mobile command posts.
Unified Vegvisir Concept
The Vegvisir Virtual Command Station is the company’s third major solution, following the Vegvisir Core, which provides 360° XR-based see-through-armor capability for manned vehicles, and Vegvisir Remote, which enables immersive first-person view for unmanned and optionally manned assets.
Ingvar Pärnamäe, Vegvisir’s CEO, explained that the solution was developed in collaboration with the Estonian Defence Forces (EDF) to address the demand for mobile, low logistical footprint command setups that can integrate data from multiple domains.

A pilot project carried out with the EDF confirmed the effectiveness and applicability of the solution in real-world operational scenarios. The development team conducted a thorough analysis of the lessons learned from the war in Ukraine to ensure that the solution addresses the challenges of modern warfare.
Pärnamäe added, “By adding fleet management capability, these three solutions form an innovative concept that equips commanders with the tools to navigate complex scenarios and make well-informed decisions on the battlefield.
“We’re excited to introduce the Virtual Command Station to the market. This system brings all the information commanders need into a single, immersive and collaborative interface, enabling faster, more informed decisions across various operational environments.
“The feedback we’ve received so far has been overwhelmingly positive, with particular praise for the innovation of our head-mounted displays. Testers have affirmed that there is no comparable solution available on the market. We believe this unique solution has great potential both for military as well as civilian use.”
