OpenWorks Engineering is collaborating with Walaris to integrate the AirScout AI module as an alternative to its proven SkyAI solution, broadening the artificial intelligence options available to users of its systems.

Central to this development is Vision Flex, OpenWorks’ most widely deployed product, recognized globally for its versatility. Built as a modular platform, Vision Flex can incorporate a wide range of electro-optical systems, third-party primary detectors, and effectors. The collaboration with Walaris further strengthens this adaptability, combining advanced software systems to meet varied customer requirements in classification and tracking.

OpenWorks has provided the SkyAI module to global customers since 2018 and will continue to do so. However, the company places strong emphasis on modularity, enabling customers to tailor hardware and software combinations to specific needs. Through integration with Walaris, Vision Flex can now host AirScout’s computer vision AI, sensor data fusion, and GUI without the need for an additional server. This reduces the hardware, space, and power demands of deployment while easing logistics.

The AirScout AI system is optimized for edge processing, locally fusing data from deployed sensors and performing billions of computations in real time to recognize known patterns or objects. Already in use across Europe and North America, it brings a mature and field-proven capability to OpenWorks platforms.

James Cross, OpenWorks Engineering Chief Commercial Officer, said, “Collaboration with Walaris will further the utility of our offering, allowing customers who already use their software to deploy products from OpenWorks. It also gives Walaris access to our full range of optical systems. We’ve have a strong working relationship with Walaris since we started this journey in 2023, and we look forward to further aligning our capabilities for the benefit of end-users.”

Kyle Meloney, Walaris Chief Executive Officer, added, “Walaris and OpenWorks already share a strong relationship. The seamless integration of AirScout into Vision Flex deepens our technical collaboration, empowering customers with the flexibility to choose the tools best suited to their requirements and creating a powerful combination from which many end users will benefit.”

At DSEI 2025, Vision Flex integrated with AirScout will be featured on the Walaris Booth S9-375. OpenWorks will also be exhibiting at Booth N6-160.
