ALL.SPACE has announced that its Hydra MAX terminal has officially achieved Technology Readiness Level 6 (TRL 6) following the successful completion of testing under the U.S. Army’s Next Generation Tactical Terminal (NGTT) program.
This validation designates the terminal as a first-of-its-kind solution capable of delivering seamless, simultaneous, and resilient connectivity across Low Earth Orbit (LEO), Medium Earth Orbit (MEO), and Geostationary Orbit (GEO) satellite networks. Crucially, the system demonstrated these capabilities while on the move, addressing a long-standing challenge in beyond-line-of-sight communications regarding the maintenance of high-throughput connectivity during maneuver operations.
The testing took place at the Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) using off-road land mobility profiles to simulate difficult terrain. Supported by Telesat Government Solutions and Viasat, the demonstrations involved simultaneous multi-beam On-The-Move (OTM) operations, validating both LEO/GEO and LEO/MEO configurations. The terminal successfully bridged the tactical edge to the cloud, ensuring mission-critical applications remained accessible.
Throughout the evaluation, the system delivered sustained high data rates and high-resolution video while both stationary and in motion. Despite challenging off-road conditions involving rapid azimuth and elevation changes, the terminal maintained its LEO beam lock. The hardware utilizes digital beamforming with monopulse tracking to deliver up to four times faster responsiveness than traditional methods, ensuring precise, high-speed connectivity across wide scan angles even under intense vibration and dynamic conditions.
Paul McCarter, CEO, ALL.SPACE, said, “Successfully completing this testing as part of the NGTT program and reaching TRL 6 is a defining moment for ALL.SPACE, Hydra-2 MAX has proven it can deliver uninterrupted, intelligent connectivity in the harshest operational conditions. For commanders, this means cloud access, data fusion, and decision superiority remain intact – no matter the orbit, no matter the threat.”
The TRL 6 designation confirms that the Hydra MAX has been proven in a relevant military environment, signaling a transition from a prototype to an operationally validated system ready for near-production deployment. Purpose-built to align with the Department of Defense’s Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) objectives, the terminal supports a Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA). This architecture enables rapid integration with future constellations, including the upcoming Telesat Lightspeed network, for which the terminal is currently securing type certification.
