FT Technologies, a specialist designer and manufacturer of combat-rugged ultrasonic wind sensors, has partnered with Defense Advancement to demonstrate its expertise in this field.Â
The company’s ‘Gold’ profile showcases how its compact, lightweight wind anemometers can be used in a wide range of meteorological applications in the defense and aerospace sectors.
The FT742-SM is a surface-mount wind speed and direction sensor that is designed for military and defense OEMs and systems integrators. The rugged low-SWaP unit can be integrated into a variety of platforms, including drones, autonomous robotics, military vehicles, and weather stations.Â
The FT742-DM version is designed to be directly mounted onto a 33.7mm pipe. Able to operate at temperatures between -40°C and +85°C and altitudes of up to 4000m, the sensor can measure wind speeds of up to 75 m/s and 360-degree wind direction, making it ideal for deployment in harsh conditions around the world.
The FT742-PM Pipe Mount Wind Sensor is designed to be attached to a 40-51mm pipe via our pipe mount adapter, allowing the cable to be run inside for enhanced lightning and environmental protection. The unit includes a thermostatically-controlled heater for ice-free operation.
The FT205 is a compact wind speed, wind direction and air temperature measurement system specifically designed for installation on UAVs, drones and moving platforms. Weighing just 100g (3.5oz) and constructed from a graphite and nylon composite, the low-SWaP sensor is ideal for flight control and environmental monitoring applications.
All FT Technologies wind sensors are powered by its unique patented Acu-Res technology. Acu-Res utilizes an ultrasonic acoustic wave inside a resonant cavity, providing a signal-to-noise ratio that is more than 40dB stronger than other ultrasonic technologies.
